Seven FIFA World Cup matches. Gillette Stadium. June 13 through July 9. England, France, Morocco, Scotland, Norway, Ghana, and Haiti — plus a Round of 32 knockout and a quarterfinal. Eastern Massachusetts has a front-row seat to one of the most loaded match schedules of any venue in the entire tournament.
But a front-row seat does not mean easy access. Here is how groups across Eastern MA and Southern New Hampshire are getting to Gillette this summer — and why charter bus is the answer most of them are landing on.
The Transportation Challenge at Gillette This Summer
Gillette Stadium sits 25 miles south of Boston with no subway access. Parking drops from 20,000 spots to approximately 5,000 — a 75% reduction — and all parking requires a prepaid reservation with a match-day ticket. The MBTA is expanding commuter rail service with up to 14 trains from South Station, but even at full capacity that covers only about 20,000 of the 64,000-plus fans per match. Five of seven matches kick off on weekday afternoons, colliding directly with the evening commute on Route 1 and I-95.
We also know exactly what match-day traffic at Gillette looks like now, because we already have a preview. On March 26, 2026, Gillette hosted a Brazil vs. France friendly — a single warm-up match before the actual World Cup. CBS Boston reported that Foxborough’s police chief described the traffic as having flat-out “sucked,” that GPS apps routed hundreds of cars off Route 1 and onto Mechanic Street and residential back roads through the town, and that fans walked 3.5 miles along train tracks to avoid the gridlock. Even the France national team coach said his bus barely made it to the stadium on time, arriving just 75 minutes before kickoff after being caught in traffic for well over an hour. That was one preview match. The World Cup brings seven full-scale FIFA events to Foxborough this summer.

No surge-priced rideshares, no hour-long parking lot crawl, no coordinating 15 separate drivers on the way home from a night match.
